Time-tested tech tools: save yourself the headaches

Countless hours spent testing and researching tools for the best solutions have led to great systems. I and my clients use the following essential tools. Click the links to get 'em.

I became a certified developer for AccessAlly in 2017. You can read more about the software and how it works in the Innovator package. AccessAlly is a sophisticated Wordpress plugin that gives you free reign in terms of design and content over your course and membership site. It's very different from other templated and hosted course platforms because you get to create it the way you want: your content, layout and brand.

WPEngine is the only host I'll use for my own and my clients' Wordpress websites. They're a "managed Wordpress" host, meaning they offer comprehensive support, not just a place where your site sits. They're available by phone 24 hours a day and I've spoken to them at all hours. You know how it gets when you're working on a project, right.

Their servers and technical knowledge are robust and can support the complexity of heavy resource requirements like course sites and increased web traffic as needed.

Shopify is my preferred e-commerce platform, however, for other purposes, such as courses and membership sites, Wordpress is the software I choose.

Best CRM (Email+)

CRM stands for customer relationship management. CRMs let you keep track of customer information. They usually include e-mail and customer list management and let you track engagement for campaigns. They allow you to automate tasks, saving hours of work.

Ontraport is “tag-based,” which means you can tag clients based on their interests. So for instance, a client responds to your e-mail about home decor so you tag them with "home decor" and know to send them messages that fit that interest. Ontraport includes order forms and simple e-commerce. It also includes an affiliate setup so you can create your own affiliate program.

Print on Demand Vendor

Top Choice: Printful

Print on Demand is a technology that lets you print single items where you used to have to order minimum runs of a dozen or hundreds. You can print top-quality shirts, mugs, posters, framed art, journals, pillows, blankets, tote bags, hats and more.

I spent years researching print on demand (POD) suppliers and found Printful to be superior in every way. Their print quality is amazing. You'll get exactly the art you've designed. Their setup and policies are clear and easy to work with.

Let me know if you've got questions about using this technology. There's still a place for techniques like silk-screening and Printful even offers that on some items. I can help you navigate your options.
